2025/08/11 King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard w/ San Diego Symphony Orchestra - Full Photo Album

After photographing King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard’s rain-soaked acoustic performance at the Rady Shell in 2024, I knew I had to return to this bucket-list venue for their orchestral tour. The payoff was huge: a full performance of their latest album Phantom Island with a live orchestra, followed by orchestral reimaginings of classics from across their sprawling catalog.

My personal highlight was moshing to "Dragon!" With the entire orchestra reinforcing drummer Michael Cavanaugh's double kick drum hits, this progressive thrash metal odyssey stood out as one of the most unique arrangements of the night.
